Are you shining your Light???

There has been so much talk in the media and social media about Kirk Franklins affiliation with Kanye West. Kirk has gotten so much flack and back lash and the majority of it has come from the Christian community. It’s sad that so many Christians don’t see the mission that Kirk was giving. Anyone who is aware of Kanye West knows that he went through a difficult lost, his mother passed , she was his rock, she kept him grounded. When you loose someone so close and you are in the entertainment industry it is very difficult he no longer had a grounded support system. I truly believe God gave Kirk the assignment of being just what Kanye needs a big spiritual brother, someone to help him get back on track, and give him the grounded support he needs.

God needs us as Christians to learn and know His word. God doesn’t want us to be a secret society or be a superior group of people. We are meant to walk in humility and boldly walk is His word. God’s word is true and a blueprint for how we are to live. We are to be as it is stated in Matthew 5:13-16
,13 You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. 14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

We are to be the light in a world full of darkness. Kanye has been going through dark times and Kirk is being the light he needs. Instead of judging Kirks actions,we should be praying for Kirk’s spiritual strength and proud of his action. Kirk is setting a great example for us as Christians. Kirk Franklin just like many other contemporary gospel artist are in the place to draw those in who won’t be drawn in by traditional gospel. I appreciate that aspect of gospel music they grab the attention of many teenagers and young adults. Just as my Pastor Dan Willis states all the time we have to change the method sometimes but not the message to draw in the youth and some lost souls. I have seen the positive affects of this type of ministry.
